Re: Project blue affair

Today while the little guy was napping I started modifying the spindles for the big brake setup. The wheels are shipping out next week sometime!

Re: Project blue affair

went to my dads house this morning to drill and tap the old dust shield holes since those are now the caliper mounting bracket holes. I had to see what it was going to look like so a finger tightened stuff together for a couple pics. Don't mind the missing stud. I have a small burr on the hub and just need to chase it with a tap.

Re: Project blue affair

Great looking build. What year of corvette did the brakes come off of and what are you using for hubs?

Both are good questions. Tobin at kore3.com told me when I orded them, I think he said the calipers are 2006-2013 but I don't remember for sure... Give him a call. He is super super helpful.

Today I pressed in the lower ball joints, packed the bearings and bolted the brakes together. I'm so excited to see what the wheels are going to look like!

Re: Project blue affair

Not a huge update. But I took the bed apart so I could get the floor out. It's sounding like we are going to do a wood floor when the time comes. We're still waiting for the wheels to ship. Should be any day.

Re: Project blue affair

wheels got here today!!!

They are pretty badass. The front wheels lack in lip which kinda sucks but its just how it woks out when running the big brakes and a concave wheel design.

I went to mount one of the front wheels on but the hubs I received are the 5x4 3/4 bolt pattern. I called up Tobin at kore3 and he said no problem it was his mistake you will have the correct hubs by Thursday. 15 minutes later I had a fedex tracking number! Great guy to deal with.

I had to pull a bed side out and see how it would look : ) Cant wait to get some rubber mounted.

Yea, mine are 22x8.5.. But they have a little more lip than yours. I don't have a picture of the front though.

Thanks. we are running the same front wheel but I had called before they made the wheels and let them know what brakes I was planning on running and they added more material to the mounting surface to help clear the brakes so that's probably why you have more lip.

I got the tires mounted today and once again had to set a bed side up to get a picture. its going to be badass! there is a good chance this is as low as the truck will be. The tires are pretty close to going out the top of the bed.

Re: Project blue affair

two more pics. It will look better when I can get the tires close to the side of the bed. In these pics the bedside is just leaning over against the tires.

Got off work at midnight and went home and got the new hubs mounted and bolted up the front wheels.

don't judge the super messy garage! It will get cleaned in the next couple days.
