My father son C10 build

Slowly piecing a C10/C20 factory utility bed, camper package together for my sons first vehicle. He's 15 what better project. Did 68 chrysler imperial for my oldest first ride. This is a 67 C20 frame/ 67 factory utility bed, step side box with utility sides, pretty cool. Guy I bought it from took cab and front clip off it. Looking for suggestions;
1) convert to C10 running gear which I have complete frame has rust on rear crossmembers from 72 C10. 373 posi rear, disc front to lug with new tires and good rims or
2) keep 8 lug and do disc swap on front.

Plan on lowering and have stuff for 5.3 ls swap 4l60 transmission. Have 2" lowering Springs.
Cab I have needs bottom, looking for better one now.
Any suggestions please chime in thanks

Re: My father son C10 build

Slowly but surely gaining ground. My boy isn't showing much interest in the build as of yet. Hoping after the destruction ends and new parts go on he'll gain interest. I'm using 67 c20 frame, 72 front end and rear. I just got cpp Springs, 2 1/2 drop spindles, shock relocator, long Panhard bar. Putting 5.3 ls, 4l60 swap in it. Sending frame out for blasting, debating on galvanizing frame. Have new weld in floor complete bottom will be working on soon.man do the small parts add up fast.

Cool project. I hope his interest picks up soon. My dad and I rebuilt a wreck for me to drive to college. Right now, my dad, my son (8), and I are slowly restoring my grandfather's 72. There's nothing like building something with the family. Are you planning on keeping the utility bed?

Cool looking project. I'm sure when there's something visual to see it will motivate him more.

Yes, plan on using utility bed. It's pretty cool, both my boys like it. Has wood floor, it's 67 long box step side but instead of flares it has utility sides. Same tailgate and all

Re: My father and son 72 C10 build/67 gmc build

Slowly making progress and buying crazy amounts of parts. Took a trip to Ohio for can and parts buyout, came with full weld in floor and tons of parts. 18hr round trip. Got home and found 67 gmc small window i couldn't resist. Came with parts from 3 trucks. I'll be selling a boatload of parts soon. Putting ccp drop spindles and hd lowering springs. Both trucks will have 5.3 la swaps. 72 is installed no wiring yet. 67 I'm working on now for myself. Hoping that as I make progress on my 67 my 15yr old son shows interest, he's not so far.

Man that sure is a boatload of parts! Hopefully your boy shows a little interest shortly, best way my dad got me was to not pressure me about it. I finally gravitated towards the truck because he was having fun. Best of luck!

Re: My father son C10 build

Lots of snow. Have a complete floor replaced in 1, installing 1 soon and finish mine. Doing all 3 in stages.
