Anyone have a powered sub enclosure behind the seat?

I was looking at crutchfield and this looked like a good deal for the price. Does it matter that it will be behind the seat facing one side of the cab or the other, as opposed to sitting in the trunk of a car? I dont need a ton of bass, just a decent thump. I was wondering how this would work compared to a couple 8"s or 10"s in boxes facing the seat. It may be my best option considering how little room I have.

Re: Anyone have a powered sub enclosure behind the seat?

i saw some pictures of someone around here that stuffed one of those pointing up and down in the rear cab corners. bass is non-directional, doesn't matter where you put it in the cab - except that the person close to it will probably feel more vibration than anyone else.

I put a Kenwood KSC-SW1 under the middle of my bench seat in my CST. I don't have a picture but it fit under there really nicely. It won't give you the heavy bass that a pair of 10 inch subs will but it sounds good to me.

Here is a link to a picture of it.

I'm about to stick an RE8 8" sub, alpine mono amp and a big four channel amp for the fronts under the seat.

I like it. It has a wired remote that you can adjust so that you get more bass. I think it helped my system a lot.

I mounted it under the seat permanantly. I already had two 6x9 speakers under the seat. I also already had the seat adjuster cable disconnected due to the 6x9's so I don't know if it would need to be modified or disconnected if you installed one.

Re: Anyone have a powered sub enclosure behind the seat?

let me ask you a question lemield when you mount under the seat do you bolt it thru the floor? Or mount to a board then mount the board thru the floor?

Re: Anyone have a powered sub enclosure behind the seat?

here is how I did mine...Phoenix Gold 10" sub powered by PG 5 channel amp.....which puts 400 watts to the 10" sub! 6x9's behind the seats and components 6.5" and 1' tweets in the front. Just did this last week.

I just used a couple of self drilling sheet metal screws on each side through the brackets....right into the floor boards. I diod put down about three layers of Edead (dynamat type stuff) first.
