What size rims did they make??

Hello

I need 15X8 rims made after 71 for my front disc conversion.
They are had to find with the hub cap knobs facing up and out.

I found a few with the knobs facing in but then you have to use aftermarket caps.

Did Chevy make them 8" wide or was 6" the normal?

Does anybody have two of 15X8 if so made?

My 67 Rims were custom made to 15X9 and I need to replace them to fit over the disc brakes.... Has anybody grinded the 67 rims down to fit?? I tried a little grinding but I think it would take a lot...

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/wvi-12-580604

That one is perfect but the hub cap knobs point inwards
I called the company and the OE Chevy style rims work with OEM caps but they ONLY make 5 lug! Dumb

This is the tire I am putting on the fronts.

Re: What size rims did they make??

You need 6-lug? If you do, no one makes them now, but in the '70s and '80s GM offered them. They were also available aftermarket. Look for 4 nubs to be sure they are for disc brake. If I was to grind anything it would be the caliper. Not sure how much material you need to lose, but I have ground K/20 calipers to fit 15" wheels and it didn't take much

My fellow Snow-bound Canadian .... you REALLY don't want to see the 2 15x8 disk brake steelies that I just had powder coated. They are hard to find up here. I had to go outside of London for one , and Winnipeg for the other. I have a few 6 bolt 4 nub 15x6.5's that will work on your disk deal , just can't find them in all the snow we've got right now! Give me call at work , I'll see what I can find - Bob

Sorry , the 8's are going on the rear of the patina'd 69 I'm doing right now. I have some narrow ones with the correct centers if you want to build some though.

Re: What size rims did they make??

I have 2 of those 15X8 4 nub factory steel wheels that accept the factory dog dish hubcaps. I bought a set of 4 from a board member who is local to me. They are exteremly hard to find in 6 lug set up. They do clear disk brake sets.

I checked with just about every wheel manufacture In the USA when I was looking. Nobody makes them with the outer hubs nubs anymore. I watched ebay and Craigslist and the forum for several months before I found a set.

I went with the fat and skinny set up on my 68. I don't know if I really want to sell them as I may do the same look on my 70 also.

But I will say to watch the for sale section forum and maybe you will get lucky. Shipping might kill the deal for you. They are stout.

Re: What size rims did they make??

You can always get some 15X6 4 nub wheels and I believe Stockton wheels in California can make the hoops wider for you.

Re: What size rims did they make??

There are places that widen wheels all around this country. One thing to consider, if running these on the rear of a 2wd with narrow front wheels you can use the earlier 3-nub for drum brakes.

Re: What size rims did they make??

Thanks Cleanfreak. do you know of a good shop to weld a 2" ring around them in Niagara?

They are for the fronts. I have 14" Pro Track 50's on the back.

The rim I have now is 15x 8.5 I could grind the 2" ring out of them and have somebody
weld up the 15X6.5's

Re: What size rims did they make??

I have a set of 4 15 X 8 six hole rims like you need but you'd have to cash in some RRSP's ( 401K to my friends in the USA ) to pay for the shipping from me to you. Head to the wrecking yards i your area and if can find a 73-87 Square body Chev/GMC 4 x 4 with stock rims that will be what you need.
