Oil pressure gauge

How are you guys running the stock mechanical oil pressure gauge with your LS? Pictures? I'm thinking of a braided line off the oil pan blockoff to the pressure gauge.

Re: Oil pressure gauge

I used the autometer adapter and put my mech sender where the LS elec sender goes...at the back of the intake

Re: Oil pressure gauge

I just run a regular plastic gauge line from the blockoff plate, with some nomex shielding where it passes the manifolds. Braided would be great as long as the compression fittings on the gauge accept it.

Re: Oil pressure gauge

Braided line to back of pump, used compression bushing to back of guage. Took about 3 trips to the hardware store. I usually buy premade fuel pressure gauge line kit.

Same thing I did, no issues. Except getting to it I had to to take the intake off because it was already in the truck.

Re: Oil pressure gauge

Is oil pressure an available parameter to view thru OBD?

Re: Oil pressure gauge

Not on GenIII. There is a PID, but its only for warning light status and not a viewable pressure.

I believe on GenIV and after, Oil pressure is a variable value instead of a status, and should be viewable on HP ECM Scanner, a logger, or something like a Scanguage.

Re: Oil pressure gauge

On my suburban I drilled and tapped the 2004 sending unit.

On my truck i used the 2004 sending unit and read my oil pressure thru obd2 module that displays values in my hdx gauges.

I think only the 1999-2002 do not have the ability to read oil pressure thru obd2 becausè there a 1 wire sender

Re: Oil pressure gauge

On my 2002 5.3, I drilled and tapped the factory sending unit for the factory hardline. I tried the banjo fitting adapter that goes between the block and the factory sender off of ebay but all that did was leak like crazy.

Re: Oil pressure gauge

I've been drilling and tapping the factory senders for years. Way better than a Chinese adapter that may break off in the block. Page 2 post #26. https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...-c-10-a-2.html

Re: Oil pressure gauge

Just above the oil filter ther is a plate that is held on with two nuts you can buy a replace adapter for this with a tap for a oil pressure sending unit or line
