Mac808, thanks for the feedback on your backspacing; really helpful information. You have a really nice setup and ride

Re: My Porterbuilt Experience...

Really appreciate all the kind words guys! I'm getting really antsy thinking about finally getting her up and running again! New exhaust is out to powdercoat and should be back by next week. Something I ended up adding to the 'do-it-while-the-beds-off' list.

Gipper, glad I could provide a bit of insight into the wheel spacing. I'll put up pic of exactly how the wheels sit in relation to the fenders once the bed is back on.

Re: My Porterbuilt Experience...

I have the same PB parts waiting to be installed. Did you leave the exhaust the way it is in the previous pictures, or did you run it all of the way back? The truck looks awesome!

I'm leaving it right before the axle with a turndown tip. I actually swapped out my old blown out Flowmaster 50 series mufflers with the newer versions which are about 4 inches shorter so that gave me a little more room to put a tip and not have it blow exhaust right onto the axle.

The only problem is that there really isn't anything to hang the mufflers from where it ends up so I had to run a cross beam across the frame, weld on a hanger tab to the muffler which would hang off the beam to support the weight. (Red line in pic)

I'll have pics of how its mounted up when I get it back from powdercoat before the bed goes on to illustrate it better. Here's a pic to give you an idea of where the mufflers ended up~

Very nice truck, and super write up! A quick question; did you use a anti-sway bar on the front? I didn't see one, so I'm curious. Thanks again for a great effort!

Thanks allons! No, I don't have one on YET. I had a ECE set on it previously but removed it since it wouldn't work with the PB arms.

I will be ordering a PB LCA specific sway bar from PB once I get the rear buttoned up.

Love the truck.

Have you thought about what will happen when you roll into the first dirt lot? With the exhaust tips down you will have clean and already clean truck and those at the show won't be to happy either. Just a thought...

Awesome work though.

Haha. Thank you for the kind words, and good point. But my biggest concern was local state laws where some require the exhaust tips to farthest back and out from under the vehicle but we don't have that requirement here.

As for a downturned tip and blowing dust up, a) we don't have very many/I don't plan to drive on any dirt roads, b) the tip I have on is the exact same tip that I cut off of the original behind-the-rear-wheel exit tail pipes, facing the exact same way-just more underneath the bed- so it wouldn't be blowing any more or less dust up(more under my truck if anything) if I ever did drive on a dusty road/surface.

I already avoid driving it in rain and it would be a cold day in hell if I ever took it off roading anywhere. It isn't a garage/trailer queen by any means but I am a fair weather driver.

Quick update with a pic of the finished and hung mufflers. This is probably the last pic of the undercarriage now that the bed can finally go back on. Pics of the completed truck coming soon...

Thanks. Its a custom fabricated piece by Steve Kent of Kent Performance made way back when the truck was first put together back in 2000.

I purchased the truck from a previous owner who was, I believe the second owner of it, about 3 years ago.

I've been tweaking and making it my own ever since. Cutting into the frame of a pristine and beautifully restored truck to give it a new stance with bags was a scary decision but going with quality Porterbuilt parts to make it just right was a no brainer to go ahead and do it.
