pancaked crossmember problem

I have recently put pockets in my lower control arms with bags, im running d2600 bags and my frame was 3 inches off the ground. So i decided to pancake my crossmember 1.5 inches to get a little lower. Well i bolted it all back together and it only dropped 1/2 inch. I know the control arms will hit before the frame but my mind is boggled as they are still an inch off the ground. Am i missing something? Im guessing with the motor and everthing in it it will drop some more. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Did you clearance for the steering? Maybe that is what is holding you up.

Pics would help a ton.

Re: pancaked crossmember problem

As far As my thoughts about this......Pan caking a crossmember won't change a thing to suspension height.....just drops front body height....

Re: pancaked crossmember problem

Looking online those bags are about 2.8 fully compressed. What do yours measure?

Re: pancaked crossmember problem

I agree with Sik66. Pancaking changes just the frame height and not the crossmember. It does move the front up 1.5" in relation to the frame. I does not change any of the geometry of the front suspension to allow it to go lower.

Re: pancaked crossmember problem

Are you upper ball joints binding? Many people have to pie cut the uppers to decrease the ball joint angle.

Loosen you upper ball joint and see if it gets lower.
