What makes controlling a truck with large (38.5's) tires easier? I currently have the huge stocker.

keep the stocker. I have a grant w/ is smaller and w/ my 33s it could be easier. Also cross over steering and an hydraulic assist will make it even easier to steer.

i know that i'm running 33's and i put a cavi steering wheel on, which is about 1 3/4" smaller than the stock and man what a difference......but with 38's i have no clue, but if you upgraded your steering system thn it should be fine to run a smaller wheel.

I'm running a Grant but had a Camaro wheel before that. Like the smaller wheels lots better.

I will confirm what Jims70GMC said, crossover steering does help. I'm assuming that your 38.5's are not radials so your gonna loose some handling right there. Also, depending on how wide your tires are and how wide of a rim they are mounted on will make a difference. Air pressure will affect it as well. Last thing I can think of to help in the handling department is steering stabilizers. If you have power steering on the truck already, I doubt that going with a smaller steering wheel (say and inch or two smaller) will have much affect other than how it feels to grab a smaller wheel. I also have a smaller Grant wheel and see no need to go back to something as large as stock. Tires are Bald and non radial. ( I am getting new radials this week).
I have a dual Steering stabilizer.
I do have power steering.

Looks like i'm going with the grant. Thanks for the replies.

Also cross over steering and an hydraulic assist will make it even easier to steer. __________________ 1970 K25, 8' stepside bed 350/465/205 44 up front, 60 in the rear 4.10s rolling on 33" Dunlop MTs 1986 K5, 350/465/208 Dana 60/14 bolt from a cucv 36" Super Swampers TSL/SX 1983 K20 w/ CUCV axles, 350/700R4/208 sitting on 37" Goodyears 1986 M1031 6.2 diesel, TH400/NP205 locker in the rear and a LS in the front, all stock for now..... 1986 K30, 350/400/205 dana 60 and 14 bolt. I kept the drivetrain. Body/bad and chassis are gone. 1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed. Going to replace the flat bed. 1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm
