Re: Vintage picture thread

A truck smoothed & painted at a shop I worked at back in 1987. Broken Arrow, OK. This was from a 1990 Truckin' Magazine feature. Matt Clarke & Al Calvert were the main team. It was sold and sits in a nice garage in Amarillo TX to this day, same owner. Not Fer Sale (one will try every once in awhile). Ace Hardgraves tubbed the rear by moving leaf sprinks mounts inboard. 9 inch Ford rear. This is the build I based my later truck on.

Question Shaved Drip Rails

A guy I worked with shaved the drip rails when he re painted his square body, I always wondered : doesn't this let water come in when it rains ? .

I am so loving this thread .

Yes, if your weather strip & door gap are perfect, it will not leak. BUT.........if there is a sleet/freezing..........ya need some very warm water to open that door. AND....if the door is shaved of handles & mirrors opening is hindered even more. Smoothed out a few like this & only one was a true daily and had this happen a few times.

Re: Vintage picture thread

Allison Polishing took a then new GMC & finished it right. No air ride here. Notched frame rails & stock crossmember (4 inch drop) 1 cut coil wrap & drop spindles for another 4 inches toward the road.
