Rescued one today

Rescued this fella today. I had it bought a few years ago when the windshield was still in it and such. But when I went to pick it up he said that the price we agreed upon wouldnít buy it so I let it be. Well drove over there last week and left a note at the door and we got together on it. 350 cash and he gave me the title. Itís a 63 k10 all factory still. 6 cylinder four speed with the original 16Ē rims and two original hubcaps and the spare. The bed is off laying in the trees that Iíd have to go pull out of there if I want it. Kids hit the windshield out which started to accelerate the rust process on the roof. Itís nothing too bad yet but thereís soft spots. I didnít care since itís all original 4 whee drive drive train. Iíve paid more for less lol but one thing i always thought was that in 63 they had alternators and a mechanical clutch instead of with the slave/hydraulic style. I could be wrong but here she is.

Re: Rescued one today

Nice score, too bad about the windshield.

Yes 1963 was the first year for alternators and mechanical clutches.

This one has the dual master and generator on it and all the numbers on the motor match to it and this guy has owned it for 30 some years.

Re: Rescued one today

Well maybe the K10's carried some the the '62 components over. The only '63 K series I have owned was a '63 K10 Suburban and it have a mechanical clutch and a alternator. It was also original.

Re: Rescued one today

That’s what I was thinking. Or could’ve been an early 63 or a some left over 62 stuff, not sure. But for the price, it needed to be saved

Re: Rescued one today

In 1963 the K10 pickups had hydraulic clutches as standard with the dual master cylinder. One side for the clutch, one side for the brakes.

Re: Rescued one today

I guess they used some left over parts on the k trucks as the 235 engine was used.

Re: Rescued one today

Back in 1990 these years of trucks where junked or the cab was.

Hear this you buy a truck back in 1987 and you buy it for 150.00 to 200.00 at the time your where making 3.25 hour. But your trucks 1960--63 needs a windshield Belize was the only place you could buy that curved windshield. Now try 1275.00.Now for the guys doing flips back then these trucks where gutted and the cabs and doors where junked

No one in there right mind would spend 6 months of pay for a windshield.

So my boss that use to get them he never bothered with them and junked them a krap load of short beds went to the crusher over 150 in my area.
