Anybody running an electric fan on their 4x4?

Hey guys I just put a march peformance serpetine conversion on my sb400. It was intended to go in a 2wd truck with electric fans but I think I am going to drop it in a 4x4....

So do I need to figure out how to put a clutch fan on my 4x4 or can I go ahead and go with the electric fans?

Thanks!

I have them in my 70 3/4 ton. I'm running the flex-a-lite 310's i believe and they seem to cool the 454 just fine

Re: Anybody running an electric fan on their 4x4?

I run one on my 454 (no mechanical fan just 1 electric) and it cools just fine. I'v been on long drives and idled at lights OK.
I have a new heavy Griffin aluninum radiator so I'm sure that contributes to the cooling.

I was born and rased in South Texas, I know hot, I'm not sure my setup would work there sitting at lights.

You said fans, so you have two? I think it would work. Seems to me I remember 400s can run hot though.

The 310 is a dual lo profile puller that pulls 2500 cfm if i remember right may be 2000 though. It covers pretty much the whole radiator which is a 3 core out of a 80. If that question was directed to me

I run Flex-A-Lite dual 13.5" 27" fan/shroud...

Keeps my 454 nice and cool. Oh I run a 4Core rad too.

Re: Anybody running an electric fan on their 4x4?

I'm running one and I love it, not only for the low rpm cooling, but cold weather warm up is improved since you're not pulling cold air when you don't want to. Try to match the shroud to the dimensions of your radiator.
