We used Rustoleum high heat to paint the AC bracket. Part of it actually touches the headers and it has held up. But whether or not it would hold up on the headers themselves I'm not sure. Pull one off and try it. The worste thing that could happen is it burn off.

The rustoleum I used on my ac bracket was the barbeque stuff, and it is a flat finish. I don't know if that is any different from what you used or not.

VHT makes a headder paint. Blast off the old crap and spray them with the VHT it will look the same as a ceramic coating. Awesome stuff.
