2" lift question

I sent the below to Purs, but figured I'd post it here also and see if anybody else w/ a 2" lift can answer my question(s). Thanks,
Jim

Did you get your lift installed? As I mentioned in your thread, I also bought a 2" lift from ORD. Did you get the EX ride or Heavy duty? I bought the HD, has 4 leaves in the front. Did you get the SX8000 shocks? I did P/N 61201 front and 61261 rear. Anyway I put my front springs on today and it looks like I got over 4" of lift. I'm hoping it settles. If it does not I'm going to have to lengthen my brake lines. The passenger side is pulled tight during left turns. How did your's turn out? I almost think they sent me the wrong springs. I might have to remove the bottom spring. My shocks also look too short. If you had yours on I was going to get you to measure the length of one front shock installed. I ordered their u-bolt flip for the rear with new u-bolts and 2" block, the only thing is they sent the wrong part and I'm waiting for the right one to show up, suppose to be here Friday, probably won't get it until Monday. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

The might settle a little but I wouldn't count on them settling much. If the brake lines are even close to tight get them lengthened. You want to have enough slack for when the axle is drooping fully.

Take a look at my lift page on my website. I have a pic of the factory front spring next to the 4" spring. That should give you a real good idea on whether you got the 4" or 2" spring.

Yukon, My new springs did not arch that high, but mine are HD and have a short(15") 4th leaf on the bottom that I might remove. Do you have any picture of how your front brake lines are attached? I'm looking to see who around(SE VA) here could make some longer flexible brake lines that will work with the front drums' wheel cyclinders. Could you measure the overall length of one of your front shocks? Thanks,

You can remove the brake lines from the frame and run them under the frame a couple of inches by using a small metal strap to hold them. Lot of lift kits come with this little bracket. Would be very easy to make them.

Mudder67, That's what I did on the passenger side. I had the brackets left over from a lift I put on an 85 K5 about 8 years ago, glad I kept them. I just was not planning on that with only 2". I did not need too on the driver side because the PO must have changed that one because it's alot longer and when the spring was at full droop it still had slack. I'd still like to know why it's so high. Thanks.

If its that big sounds like they may have given ya a 3" or 4 ". Yes there are some 3" lifts out there. I put one on a 86 Blazer one time.

OK I talked with Tuff country and got the operating dimensions for the front shocks they sent me. 12.5" compressed and 20" extended. So I went out and measured my front shocks 18.5" w/ truck sitting level. I'd say I'm going to have some problems. There's no way my front would be able to droop. I emailed ORD and Tuff Country to see what they have to say. I'd still like to hear the shock measurement from some of you guys w/ 2" lift.
