Re: 71 Cheyenne Super- A Combined Effort

I have a steel I-beam running the width of my garage, which limits my height. If I remember right, it is around 10' 6". As you can see, I can still fit a car on top and a car on bottom, but they are relatively low cars to begin with.

The lift was made by a company in Wichita, KS, called "All American Lifts". Unfortunately, they are out of business now. I bought the lift because of the superior lock/post design and the fact they were American made. I'm sad that they went out of business.

Geoff! Must phone must be broken - it never rang!!! I'm actually alot closer to brn agn - I'm actually about 20 minutes west of youngsville (when I'm at work). Got a good buddy in Franklinton too. I think you should sell me your half interest in this project as I could be there for it... . That would be at a discounted rate of course because the geographical logistics are probably making this a true hardship on you (being a busy bod and all.... ).... just saying ya know... just saying...

Re: 71 Cheyenne Super- A Combined Effort

I've been lurking alot lately (no money, not enough knowledge to help people or too slow to post when I can)... I'm working at the Merck site over in N. Durham. If it needs a drive train, I might be able to help you guys out considering I STILL haven't finished it for myself!
I'm still waiting for Geoff to not feel like driving so far (I'm closer to him), pick up Deland and come over to finish up all the stuff my truck needs.

I believe I would be more concerned about Jesse's wife finding out you posted her age on the net.I didn't know you guys had this going.Looks like a fun project.Wish I could find a project buddy here to do something like this or at least work on what we got.

Re: 71 Cheyenne Super- A Combined Effort

Geoff and I worked on the truck Friday night, Saturday and Sunday. Here are a few pictures to tide you all over. On Friday night I worked on fitting the lower a-pillar on the driver's side. This particular patch piece did not fit the contour of the original a-pillar at all and took a significant amount of rework to make it look right.

Just as a reminder, here is what it looked like before:

Here is the patch panel tacked in place:

There was also some rust in the rear support that the cab corner is spot welded to. I don't have a great before picture, but if you look to the far left, you can see the rust at the bottom of the support. The metal was getting really thin:

We replaced the rust with fresh metal. Here is a picture of it prior to spraying it with rust encapsulator and covering it with the outer rocker:

More pics to follow!
