When somebody says "nice truck", you can certainly take pride in saying "Thanks; it was Dads and I rebuilt it"! Really good and thorough work; looks awsome.

Starting on the engine. It's a 307, but it was running fine when I parked it.

I got this intake manifold for $50.00 and had it bead blasted. He said he was sure it was clean, but I blew it out again with compressed air when I got home just to be sure there weren't any stray beads left inside.

New motor mounts: I tried to just jack the engine up to replace the mount, but I could not get it to line up with the brace. I wound up having to take the brace off, attach that to the motor mount, then attach the entire thing back to the frame.

I was beginning to question whether this heater box would attach, but I heated up the rubber seal with a heat gun and put some weight into it and it went on OK.

I'm so frequent at O'Reily's auto parts on the corner that they tell me they missed me if I don't show up for one of the weekend days. Pep Boys or Advance Auto or Carquest will have things that O'Reily's doesn't so I try not to lock myself into one store. I've had to learn the same thing with Lowes and Home Depot.

I bought a distributor tune-up kit, but I wound up breaking a bolt while trying to remove the weights and center-plate, so I had to buy a new distributor. I think it's for the best. It was educational to learn about the module and advance curve kit, but it was an expensive lesson.

I was having a hard time figuring out how to hook up the throttle linkage and kick-down cable. I finally went with this bracket from Summit Racing:

At first I couldn't make a Holley connector fit through the slot on the kick-down cable, so I tried a screw and nut, but that didn't work well so I used a dremel tool to make the connector a little bit smaller and then forced it through with some pliers.
