Curious. I am stripping the roof. Its covered in surface rust. I have some two part expoxy primer. But don't want to have to mix it up for small spots. I will do the whole cab, or large sections as i go.

What can I use for temporary protection over bare metal/old paint ?

The metal i strip the rust off, in order to make sure the rust is gone, is there a metal prep to neutralize the rust anyone recommends. Then i would prime over that?

Check with your tech sheet on the epoxy.

For the epoxy I used, they wanted nothing applied to the metal. So after I stripped and cleaned the metal, I just mixed up some epoxy and shot it.

How long do you think it will be sitting before you are able to paint the entire panels?

Its eastwood epoxy primer. They say over metal or old paint. Also acts as a sealer.
Could be up to 6 or 7 months before painting. The truck is completely in pieces. Doing piece by piece for body work and prep, but will wait until more than one piece is ready to go before painting.
