replacing floor pan

Im replacing floorpans and anything else that needs it on my 77 cab. Im curious what everyone has used to treat the bottom of cab and the inside of the floor supports. My floor supports are fine but have surface rust. My thoughts were either to cover them in por 15 or clean them as best as i can with a grinder and roll on a bed liner or something similar. Any insight would be great. Thanks.

Either POR15 or Chassis Saver would be my recommendation. I've had good luck with both on a trailer that is in the elements and driven year round in Maine where cars rust apart in 1-2 years.

With either one, prep is Important. POR15 has been getting a bad rap lately but its mostly because despite not having to remove all rust, you still need to prep the metal before hand.

ive used POR 15 with good results... make sure you clean and use welding primer when you replace things

I used rust-mort when I replaced the rockers on my crewcab. I coated them inside and out with the rust-mort. On the floor pan I used POR15, primed it with their topcoat and then sprayed secondskin spectrum sound deadener over that. I'm hoping to never get rust again with how well I treated and coated everything and should be as "luxury car silent" as you can make a square, lol

make sure you get everything square on the cab and weld in X-bracing inside the cab before you cut out 1 hunk of floor pan .

i saw a cab were they didnt do this and its now junk . best gap on the door closed is 3/4" out .
