I want to raise the front of my 1968 Chevy C10 by 1/2 to 3/4 inch. Has anybody ever used the front coil spring spacers that sit in the bottom of the lower control arm pocket?

Over 40 years ago I bought some rubber spacers from a local auto parts store, seems like they may have been from Mr Gasket, that insert under the front coil springs. They were about 1 1/2" thick and raised my truck up by nearly 3". I later pulled them and cut the thickness down to 3/4" and made it better but it wasn't what I was looking for. There weren't any lowered springs available back then though.

GM used rubber spacers on the bottom of the coils on the first gen Camaros if needed to adjust height. Have no worries about using them. Used 5/8" spacers on the top of the coils in my 94. Keep in mind the increase in height can be almost double the spacer thickness. This is due to where the coil is located in the lower arm. My 5/8" lifted 1".

I installed a lot of the GM "Air conditioner" spacers on mid 70's Pontiacs in the 70's when I worked as the Front end mechanic (we were mechanics then not techs) At Frank Weaver Pontiac in Waco, Tx
I always put them on top of the spring and stuck it back in the spring pocket. I seldom installed two as I was using them to level up the car due to a customer complaint that it was sitting low on one corner. No reason you can't install two though.

I've used Global West spacers on another project. Did what I expected. They raise about double their own height.

Thanks guys! Anybody know of where to get some spacers that would fit a 1968 Chevy C10 front spring? Summit racing does not carry anything.

Spacers will give you around a 2.5" lift. I have a brand new set sitting in my garage that you can have. I decided to lower instead of lift. PM if interested, just cover the shipping once you receive them. I decided to lower the truck with bags instead.

Upper ball joint spacers are available "used with 2" to 3.5" Front Lift Springs or Coil spacers to keep the upper control arm away from the bump stops so it wont top out and for the ball joints from binding due to control arm extreme angle and helps to keep the vehicle more alignable. clamps ball joint to bottom of upper control arm". Might be a good idea to add them to your plan.

Well I actually lowered my truck 5 inches in the front using Early classic 2.5 drop spindles and Western Chassis 2.5 drop coils. Then in the back 6 inches with a Western Chassis drop coil. But it seems the front spring lowered it a bit more than that so I am wanting to raise the front about 3/4 to 1 inch.

My ongoing truck projects: 48 Chev 3100 that will run a 292 Six. 71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant. 77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.
