Vintage Air heater?
I'm getting my rusty cab floor welded up and realized that I hate the look of the stock heater. I came across a Vintage Air compact heater on Craigslist that caught my interest. I can't afford the $1400 for a vintage air system, but I can afford a heater system. I'm sure after a summer or two I'll decide I need the a/c and find the money for it once the truck is back on the road (90-100+ degrees is common here in NorCal).
Has anyone used the Vintage Air heater? I'm thinking I could have the firewall welded up while the welder guy fixes the rusted floorboards. Then i could have the 4 holes cut for the VA a/c kit, but only use two of those holes for the heater to tide me over. Anyone have any input, except to point out that I'm being a cheap bastard and should just spend the money now and do it right? The next six months expenses: pay the welder, pay to have the engine compartment painted, buy a new wiring harness, buy a crate engine, have the driveshaft balanced, buy new tires, etc. I want to get the truck on the road by next summer so I can drive it for a few years before the next big phase (5 speed, body, paint, etc). Thanks!

Re: Vintage Air heater?
I guess you are asking about Vintage Air Heater 506101 looks like a nice compact unit with defrosters too and only like $230 for a complete kit
I asked about them a while ago and got as many responses as you also I'm guessing they just don't sell many of them http://www.summitracing.com/parts/vta-506101/overview/

Re: Vintage Air heater?
Thanks 67SWB. A local guy was selling a used one on craigslist, I was hoping to get it even cheaper then the $228 retail. The few reviews I've read have given it high marks. If I can get the used one for a good price, i'll buy it. If not, I'll probably seal up the firewall and go without a heater until I buy the VA air cond. If I drive the truck enough to need a heater, i can always buy and install the VA heater. This is my project truck, and not a daily driver, so I may not need the heater at all.
