Cool Re: 1970 ... Its our 50th Year. Lets see 1970 Trucks

Well here's my 70 at least what it looked like on March 24th, 2008 not much has changed except the cab is completely gone (except the VIN plate and heat only dash) I've replaced it with a 67 small window, the bed was rusted through I've got a repop long bed for it. the frame is the same after all these years as well as the front fenders and hood. From the info I have on her is the rear end was built on the 12th of December 1969, she was born on the 17th of December 1969 in Janesville, Wisconsin with a TH350 and a 307 and, delivered by truck to Kerr Chevrolet in Hastings, Nebraska where she sat on the lot until March 6th, 1970. Where a local service station bought her. She's had at least 3 owners before me. None of the original drivetrain will be used when my truck is finished. Sorry for the lengthy story

Still love that truck. Sadly most of your pics have disappeared off the forum. Thanks Photobucket.

OK, enough of the nice 1970 models. Here's one that I'm in the process of dragging off the farm. Not sure how many more birthdays she's going to have.

Re: 1970 ... Its our 50th Year. Lets see 1970 Trucks

An all original 1970 GMC I bought and sold a year ago. The man that bought it jumped in it and drove it 200 miles home with no issues. Evan had the original factory upper pinstripe on it.

Re: 1970 ... Its our 50th Year. Lets see 1970 Trucks

Here's my 1970 GMC. When I got it a few years ago it was primered black and had a lot of "fixes" and "repairs". Since then I have done everything on this truck including paint. I think it looks really good from 10 ft away!

Years ago when I was younger and broke-er, I remember seeing a black truck with a blue interior advertised for sale near me, but never went to look at it since I wasn't in a position to purchase it. This what it must've looked like, a pretty uncommon combination. I like it.

1970 GMC Jimmy - 508 Dark Blue Poly - converted from 4x4 to 2wd by prior owner. Been tinkering on it over the past few years and still have a list of minor stuff to wrap up.

A few shots - when I was looking to buy, when I started making adjustments (wet sanding off the primer to show OEM blue/patina, upgrading the wheels to 17", adding white patina bumpers like it would have been stock).
