I know this isn't considered progress to some of you, but to alot of us it is

I finally had the lower part of the cab blasted in prep for rust repair. The rust isn't too bad at all
I have closeups of each rotted cab support if anyone is interested.

I also had my new ECE rear frame brace powdercoated as well as my sway bar, center link & a couple of smaller brackets.

wow u can see the cab supports,lol , ive tried to find mine, and from what ive seen they are no where to be found, i think they just fell off the truck as it got older, thats one that needs to be done to mine,lol goo job on ur progress on ur cab and other parts,,,,,mark

A local company did the blasting work for us, Modern Stripping in Clinton Twp
It's amazing the cabs stay put considering how those braces rot!

That's good you got a good look at what you have. Those pics show something of concern on the firewall. Thank goodness you were able to fix and hide the bad areas before you sell the project!

Progress. Yes. Wooooooooooooooow you still have inner rockers !

Also Very fixable. Should be a easy fix.

I like that rear crossmember. I should be getting mine this week some time I can't wait..

My truck looked almost exactly like that. Now it looks like this, almost over the hump, can't wait to shoot primer! ..then drink a beer in celebration.

My K10 had the same holes in the floor/inner rockers at the A-pillar. I found dirt collected in the bottom of the A-pillar where it necks down that must have kept moisture against the floor/inner rockers till they rusted thru at that spot.

I've since pulled the floors (outward from the body bolts), rockers, and kick panels and drilled a hole in the very bottom of the A-pillar to help it let future dirt accumulation drain into the rocker and out the rocker's drain slots. A slabbering of POR15 inside everything should keep rust at bay while any future accumulation of dirt makes its way out.

Thanks, I wish that was my shop

That is the garage attached to my buddys house. He is doing the fab work, hopefully I'll learn some things in the process.

I agree with you 4x4poet, I coated all the surfaces on the inside with POR15. This truck will remain in the family and I don't want to go back in 20 years and replace all this metal yet again...

Course I learned that I'd probably spend some time in AZ or NV looking for a clean rust free cab before I cut up another one, ymmv...

I'm in the middle of the same thing. Do they make lower patch panes for the rear of the door opening? Rear post or I'm not sure what it's called. I peeled the Cab corners off, removed the rockers, and the lower part of the post that the cab support ties into is pretty swiss-cheesy.
