A new toy ... Overkill

I’ve been in the copier business for 40 years. I won’t go in to where it was when I started because obviously technology has grown by leaps and bounds in 40 years. I’ve always had something a little past "buy at the box store" for home use. I just brought this one home today. It does everything and a lot more than a person needs for home use, well unless they are running a business from home. Got my first bookmark dialed in on the smart screen (basically a tablet), I feel like Tim the Toolman Taylor Arh arh arh!

What do you have at home that is ridiculous overkill, but still love it?

Is there such a thing as too much horsepower or too many tools? I don't think so.

Is that the pic from the cowl vent thread?

Yes that’s the pic. I was thinking when I set this style machine up or see one in the field I should add 67-72chevytrucks.com in the customers bookmarks =)

The first rule of overkill is: You can never have enough overkill!

For me, it's my music collection and the equipment to play it on. I mean, I don't get into a Led Zeppelin mood too often, but when I do, the whole neighborhood knows.

Re: A new toy ... Overkill

Probably TVs. I was late getting into the flat screen game, so they were pretty cheap by the time I got all of them (except the very first one).

There's a 58" in the living room (first one, probably cost the same as the next 3 combined), 55 in the den/kitchen (open area so you can see from kitchen), 55" in bedroom and 60" in bonus room.

Also gaming systems. I hardly play anymore but I've had every new PS when they came out (I do have a IV) and an xbox. I also don't watch a ton of TV but when I do I want it to look good.

In the case of copiers, technology has shrunken would be more fitting. Am I right? I had a messenger job for a company that was spread out. My office had the Xerox machine and it was my job to maintain it. It took up half my office. I needed a step ladder to get to the top of it and a floor jack to get under it

Haha, you are correct! I remember back early on how large and heavy some of the first plain paper office copiers were, and they did nothing, just made copies. They didn't even reduce and enlarge.

Re: A new toy ... Overkill

I have too many cars. And I still go on CL looking for more. And I've been hitting up my neighbor to sell me his 66 Mustang. Like I need another one. Between insurance, tires, and keeping all the batteries charged. It's becoming more like a job just to keep them all going. Not to mention the registration. What can I say. I like them. And I have an understanding wife.

OK this is cool and definitely overkill haha.

I stopped gaming when my sons starting beating me all the time. Both of them are closer to 40 now than 35 (man im old).

I still have their Super Nintendo and games stored away in boxes. Its funny they had the original Mortal Combat. A hugely controversial game back in the day ... Man have things changed.

Re: A new toy ... Overkill

I am an Amateur Radio Operator, ham to those that are familiar with the term.. I had a tower in my back yard that was a foot or 2 over 100 feet tall. Given the right atmospheric conditions, I can communicate with other stations anywhere on Earth.. I can communicate with the International Space Station ham/astronauts. But that isn't enough.. I have some equipment that allows me to bounce a signal off the moon and return that signal back to Earth, a trip of half million miles..

Why do I feel you're talking about me? Is it bad to have a 50cal AR15 with no serial number? What about 1100# of lead for making bullets?

I collect tools. Auto and construction.

If the holster fits .... haha!

I enjoy reading your gun threads. I know nothing about guns and ammo, but I like learning. And you obviously have mountains of knowledge.
