wiper motor

have anyone had to replace there wipe motor? I am attempting to replace my wiper motor and pump is there any kind of seal that goes in between the wiper motor were it mounts to the fire wall. also once the pump has been installed will it need to prime if so how is that done?

There is a gasket between the motor and firewall. I used a 1/4" black neoprene that was sticky on one side. If I remember right it was about 1 1/2 ID x 3" OD donut.

Thanks I was not sure however on LMC catalog it appeared that it is one showing a felt seal this my first so I thought I would ask

Before you attach your wiper transmission (the linkage in the cowl), make sure you turn the motor on and confirm it's in "park" so you don't scratch anything that can cause rust later, or break some parts.

If you are going to replace the wiper motor anyway you could go ahead and put a kit in the pump, unless you are replacing the pump also. The thing to keep in mind is that anytime a vehicle has sat for a long time without the wipers/washers being used or a new kit is installed in the pump, the whole system has to be primed before the pump will pump any fluid. I use a turkey baster to prime the system while the pump is pumping. Also, while the system is apart, blow through all of the hoses and squirter nozzles with an air hose. Do not blow air through the pump, you could rupture the diaphragm in the pump. (blow backwards through the squirter nozzles) Oh, and don't forget to clean the small strainer screen inside the washer tank.

If you decide to go with the external pump there are instructions on here for wiring it to the original wiper/washer switch.....

this a new cab replacement and I had to replace everything under the dash how I do I go by making sure the motor is in the park position with nothing to hook it? Can I hook 12v and a ground to it and make sure it's not moving? are what is the best way to test and make sure it's in the park position?
