Re: running hot

What size engine is it for? I have no experience, but I've heard good things about the Spectra radiator on Rock Auto.

Re: running hot

Champion radiators have a good rep on the board for being a decent radiator for a decent price. Not exactly stock looking tho. What problems are you having? Temps?

Thanks for the info. They are currently out of stock. I could be wrong but the spectra tanks looked like plastic. Are the three and four row all metal? I should be good with a three row, w/o air. Currently have a two row. I believe that is incorrect. Tends to run a tad hot in hot weather, when pulling the boat.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

I have a high performance flex fan my heads have a front left sending unit and a right rear, leads me to believe two left heads, switched to front unit.
checked cap pressure,is working properly getting a better guage reading now. will pull the boat as soon as it quits raining!!

Re: running hot

2 left heads doesn’t make sense to me. From factory, temp gauge sending unit is on driver’s side towards the front of the truck, or left side of head. Passenger side has temp light sending unit towards the rear of the truck, or left side of head once again. So does that mean factory used 2 right side heads on our trucks? I’m guessing you have heads from a different application then? Running the numbers on the heads will tell you for sure.

Re: running hot

The sbc engines have only heads (there is no left/right distinction)

That said the only differences might be if the older heads don't have all the accessory bolt holes in the head ends like the newer ones do.

They are a great radiator. If you want it to look original just paint it black

There's gonna be a pipe plug in the head that doesn't have the hole open for the temp sender. Easy to sort out, right?

Re: running hot

If it's running hot put in a 4 row. Make sure the shroud fits tight to the rad and seals to it. Make sure the fan is about halfway into the shroud. Run a good clutch fan or an electric. Flex fans like to come apart. Fan performance is optimal with about half the blade in. With all that and a good t-stat it shouldn't overheat in any weather period.
