bench seat center console

Finally received my cup insert to complete my center console for my bench seat. More than anything I built it for comfort in that I needed something to relax my arm on and so that I could lean on during turning. Also an important part of it was to have some cup holders.

I see a blue piss-cutter on the passenger seat. Air Force or Coast Guard?

Re: bench seat center console

Guys, I thank you and appreciate all the good feedback and inquiries on possibilities of some builds for sale. However, once you see all the pics you might I find it far from something that might fill everyone’s view of good-for-buy. So I will leave that up to you all. The pics show the unit as it stands right now so that all can see if what I consider good enough for me is what others would consider the same. I will say that the unit is not fully finished as I still need to complete the inside compartment and the inside of the lid as seen in the pics. I held back from finishing it as I wanted to think on how I was going to finish it and make it look clean. Remember, this is my first attempt at upholstering something like this. Not a pro by any means, but I think it worked out for the most part and ended up looking better than expected. Most important it met what I initially sat out to accomplish, Armrest and Cup holder, Console. Just didn’t want it looking like $#@!...
Now, as you can see, the bottom of the unit is open and you can see where the staples were placed. I could create a bottom cover for it somehow to hide that however, I didn’t deemed it necessary as this would not show when the console is on the seat. The cut out in the front was for the purpose of being able to get to the latching widget in case it ever needed to be replaced. Not even my small drill would fit in the underside space to be able to attach/screw the latch in place so I had to come all the way from the front with a long bit, hence the access had to be created. I also need to create an insert to cover that. I figured out a way but it was after the fact and a bit late for this one as it had to be done during the sewing process or put the latch in the inside of the compartment. Maybe if I had a small right angle drill the opening would not need to be there at all.
For those asking for pics of the build, unfortunately I don’t have any as I was trying to finish it over the weekend. I might do one just to show pics if folks are still interested…

andrewmp6's recommendation looks good.

Re: bench seat center console

Well stop questioning your work. I install carpet for a living and now how hard it is doing corners that look good. Like when I have to wrap through pickets and over the edge of a step. This is nice and I just might have to try this myself. Good work.
