1956 PU fender emblems

Well I've been on other web sites asking the same questions so here goes again
I would like to know the correct location of the fender emblem and most important the location of the V8 emblem on a 1956 Chevy 3100 truck.

I found some measurements which I wrote down for the 3100 Chevrolet emblem (and now I can't find the info from that website) and I know it was placed above the fender body line but have not found info/measurements pertaining to the V8 emblem.

A measurement from the fender edge to the 3100 emblem and from the body line to the emblem would help a lot and the same for the V8 emblem.

Thanks
CLS

Re: 1956 PU fender emblems

here is a little write up on the different years. sorry, I don't have the measurements. I do have a set of fenders with the holes but they are not a v8 and not sure what year they were from. some had emblems above the body line and some were below.

Re: 1956 PU fender emblems

here are the fender hole locations from my fenders. again, not sure what year they are from but the emblems are below the body line and there are 3 holes. it seems the tape measure is a bit different than the ruler. gonna hafta make your own judgement call on that.

Re: 1956 PU fender emblems

the fender body line is not very crisp on these fenders but I would say 3" from the rear edge and 2 3/8" from the body line for the rear hole.

Re: 1956 PU fender emblems

Thank you for your response.

With the three holes that are below the fender line indicates this fender was on a 1955.

But I do think Chevy placed the emblems for the 55 & 56 the same distance from the fender edge and this might even be true for the 57.
So I'm going to work with that for starters.

At the present I've made a template on hard paperboard and have the emblem mounting holes punched out. Just need to get the correct measurements and I think 3 1/8 - 3 1/4 inches from the fender edge are about right for the 3100 emblem. Just need the height the 3100 emblem is above the fender line and get the V8 emblem positioned right.

Thanks again I appreciate your time and help

Curt

Re: 1956 PU fender emblems

this sheet says you need instruction sheet 22.00 for emblem placement. maybe somebody out there has the assembly manual with that sheet in it?

scroll down once in there

Re: 1956 PU fender emblems

The photo of the 6400 Chevrolet with the V8 emblem looks about right for how far the V8 emblem is below the fenderline.

Just need to find a few more "good" photos like that on a 3100 model

Thanks again

This one is supposed to be an original barn find survivor. No measurements but It should be an accurate representation.
The cameo in the second shot matches it.

Click on Go Advanced

Then click on the paper clip (attachements)

Then click on choose file. Depending on the speed of your computer and the speed of your internet connection you can choose and then upload up to five but many of us find that with slownet we have to choose and upload them one at a time until we get up to the five.

Re: 1956 PU fender emblems

the 1st pic is my best guess from this picture and a couple others I found on the net. 2nd pic is what I was using for reference. 3rd pic is the emblems held on with magnets to kinda get an idea what it is gonna look like, the V8 emblem is off quite a bit in this one, the 4th pic is poster board mock up held on with magnets, with hole locations for marking. 5th pic is the same as #3 just from another angle. Feel free to double check me on my measurements your not going to hurt my feelings.

Re: 1956 PU fender emblems

I figured I'd post this with information copied from 1955-1959 Factory Assembly Manual. '55 is below and 56 is above.
