Wiper switch ground

I'm finishing up my new wiring harness and I plugged in the wiper switch and the wiper motor. I couldn't get anything to work until I took some alligator clips and wires and grounded the body of the switch to the floorboard. So that was the problem all along however I don't understand how they expect you to ground the switch because it is mounted into a plastic bezel. Please advise

Re: Wiper switch ground

The switch should actually mount to the metal dashboard with a nut. The chrome nut goes over the bezel

Re: Wiper switch ground

See that nut? That's used to mount the switch to the metal part of the dash. Then the chrome piece to the bezel. That nut will Provide ground to the dash. You also might want to ground the dash itself to the cab a lil better with a ground strap.
Hope this helps

Re: Wiper switch ground

Thank you both very much. I bought my truck in a million Pieces and did not take it apart myself so I did not notice that hole in the dash medal. Haha... I'm going to have to find a nut because I missing that piece and I bet it will be difficult to find at a hardware store because it's one of those thin nuts
