Being a bass player I'm a huge fan of Billy Sheehan, and Steve Harris. Robert Truhillo from Metallica is also a killer player.

You know I've loved that song Jessica by Allman Brothers band for a lot of years but I just tonight learned how it came to be. It's cool.

Re: What kind of Music do YOU like ? Post it up, Please
It sure is good to see so many blues fans out there. Like the others have said, after a while, I got to noticing that all my favs were simply covers of older blues songs. I go to many concerts, also. I saw Joanna Shaw Taylor last week in a very small club in Salt Lake:
https://youtu.be/ph_yrPBurYM Lately, my favorite guitar player has been Kid Andersen. Kid's from Norway but lives in San Jose (?) and owns Greaseland Studios, which is getting a very cool sound and lots of killer recordings are coming from there. He's been with Rick Estrin & the Nightcats lately and I'm very excited to see them twice this summer, once in Salt Lake and again in Colorado: https://youtu.be/yEoTfs6erEA?list=RDuDDYurLKO1w Here's another of Kid, kinda long, but about 8 minutes in he does some wild stuff with a cell phone, getting some crazy sounds. Last time I saw them was about a week after this video was shot: https://youtu.be/kJcMZFtxX7I Kid used to back up Memphis Charlie a while back, too. This is after that time, but you get the idea. They were together for a couple albums at least-I know the Delta Hardware album, for sure: https://youtu.be/fk6ygysgqiQ https://youtu.be/XnoVL8s-HhA Here's a picture I took of them in Salt Lake that I can't even believe it was 13 years ago!: But overall, it's the Hill Country Blues I like the best, speaking of raw. Junior Kimbrough: https://youtu.be/8MhPxRbgXkY RL Burnside: https://youtu.be/ueQGgqzuWQ0 (careful-this video is life-altering ) Mississippi Fred "I don't play no Rock & Roll" McDowell: https://youtu.be/vHXZ24oqYl4 I could go on and on Ah what the heck, how about Watermelon Slim & the Workers: https://youtu.be/UukFXQVv5yE https://youtu.be/2TdjX-tHAjE And you can't really mention Watermelon Slim without checking out Super Chickan: https://youtu.be/2TdjX-tHAjE This is kinda long, too, but check out his long-time keyboard player, Lala Craig, about 7 minutes in. O.M.G! One of my blues fantasies would be to see WS and SC together at Ground Zero in Clarksdale, where they both live: https://youtu.be/pplW-K0k7f8 Here's a kid you probably ain't never heard of. YET! We're bringing him out to Salt Lake this summer for the Utah Blues Fest. Kingfish Ingram. I saw this kid at Ground Zero last time I was there, about 5 years ago when, he was like 12, and I knew then: https://youtu.be/HSv0AgjwR14 If your in town 3rd weekend in June: www.utahbluesfest.org But I don't want to sound all one-dimensional or anything, so next time I'll share some of my favs from the other genre's.

Re: What kind of Music do YOU like ? Post it up, Please
I've been waiting for Pritch to come with his blues. I have yet to begin on that vast array of music that some of the most popular forms of American music are based on...and many have no idea.
But first, I came here to post the song I first heard in '67 and was amazed by the drumming. Over 50 years later and I still feel this is the best drum song in the world of rock music, ever. Mitch Mitchell gets it all done in this one with amazing style. Once you click the link, scroll down to the song "Fire" and click https://www.allmusic.com/album/are-y...00537390#no-js Years later, into the '70s ('71), I got into some jazz fusion and must admit I found a good match for Mitch. That Billy Cobham is a bundle of energy full of finesse. He kicks it in at around 2:30 https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=..._BnC6VgoRJzLCV Mitch Mitchell actually cut his teeth on jazz. I first heard Billy playing with John Mclaughlin on the album Inner Mounting Flame. And that is where Billy absolutely dazzles and amazes. Not sure the general populous will care for this style of music. But if curious, just check out Mahavishnu Orchestra/Inner Mounting Flame. He somehow provides a stable foundation for these guys taking the songs all over the place https://youtu.be/5ofh_S52Uks

Re: What kind of Music do YOU like ? Post it up, Please
In my truck I carry a mix of music. I like a variety of music types.
Currently in my truck's changer is Don Williams, Little Big Town, Eric Clapton, Fleetwood Mac, and Yanni. Like so many of you Stevie Nicks stole my heart back in the late 60s & 70s. Lyrics are great but I like instrumentals equally as well. The past few nights I have been watching, listening to videos more than reading this forum. It's good to go back in time and hear/see our favorites back when. It's funny how something will spark a memory of a song or artist. A month or so back I saw a commercial for Modelo beer and the background music just wouldn't leave my head. I knew I had heard it before. Well, I got to digging and found it was from Clint Eastwood's spaghetti westerns like good, bad and ugly and Once upon a time in the west. Before you know it I was searching and listening to multiple orchestras versions of those songs. Isn't the internet great for stuff like this?

Re: What kind of Music do YOU like ? Post it up, Please
Yeah, I been busy dealing with some stuff. I had a little stroke back in December and was down for a while. Pretty much over it now, just a little slower. Takes me an hour and a half to watch 60 minutes now
But John Lee Hooker and Carlos Santana are correct: https://youtu.be/NXoOpGEQPnk Blues is the Healer.

Re: What kind of Music do YOU like ? Post it up, Please
Thank you Eric for starting this thread. It could go on for quite a while before we run out of music to share. I get more ideas to come here with than I should post in one sitting. I think of songs to share all day and have to decide which once I get on here.
I always loved that swamp music sound. It began, for me, with Creedence Clearwater Rivial. I love their music, but this one not as popular song stands out as my favorite. I can relate! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8QT532CYOU Tony Joe White drove that sound to town. I'll go with a song many will recognize and if you want more you can scan check it out : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCSsVvlj6YA Well, one more https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pt0RFrDXZU0 Variety https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9Ij6L3iHWM
