Pigeon Forge Rod Run

We picked a good time to visit Tennessee to meet our new granddaughter…and got to attend the 2023 Rod Run in Pigeon Forge! Unfortunately, the Beach Burban wasn’t ready for a 5000 mile round trip, but the show was still fun to go as a spectator. Lots of vendors…far more than the number of show cars, but I enjoyed looking at the vehicles in the parking lots as well! We went on the first day of the three day event, so that might be why the number of cars was so low…but at least we missed the rain!

My wife and I have always been Station Wagon lovers…especially our Suburbans, but a couple smaller ones caught her eye. If the Studebaker was for sale, she said she wouldn’t mind driving it back to So Cal with me following behind in her Highlander!

Sorry I didn’t get many pictures…but here’s a few.

I like the station wagons too, lots of good childhood memories associated with Chevy and Pontiac station wagons. It's always nice to see some fixed up.

Thanks for sharing the pictures.

I have not been in a Few years now.

Make sure you check out the main road in Pigeon Forge.

Lots of trucks and cars all the way to the Mountain going towards Gatlinburg.

I would walk that, probably 10 times
From one end to the other,
On the weekends that I went up there.

Re: Pigeon Forge Rod Run

Went to Gatlinburg, TN today (Saturday) and decided to take the slow drive through Pigeon Forge! It was worth the extra time it took to get to our destination…cars lining the parking lots for about four miles!!! Very cool!

Hey Bear…drove from So Cal to New Jersey in a 1960 Pontiac Catalina wagon when I was eight, and my first car was a 1965 Chevelle Malibu wagon (hand me down from my oldest brother)!

Took your advice…even without leaving the car, it was a sight to see!

It was super clean for sure…and was kind of in a class by itself on Thursday!

Nice ride…I love that 4 doors get more respect nowadays! It was a pleasure to be in Tennessee for the Rod Run…I hope I can drive the Beach Burban there someday!

Hey Mark…maybe you can ease my curiosity? On this Studebaker (‘60, I believe), the fender emblem read “Lark VIII”, but the hood was closed. Am I correct that this was a V8 model? Thanks!

Yes it would denote that it had a v8 . A 259 would have been the base displacement the 289 would have been optioned
From the picture I believe it's a 61 the round parking lamp is a dead giveaway it was a Regal model the Daytona would have had dual headlights.

My 62 is a Daytona
