Thanks Reaper. Building the frame is kind of fun.

Here's Fridays progress. We Tig welded most of the perimeter frame, until we ran out of argon. then we tacked some sub assemblies

Got a new plasma cutter on the weekend. So today we started by cutting the 90* frame bends into two 45* bends. Then we made a temporary gig to tack the sub assemblies

We did a bunch of tig welding and grinding on the sub assemblies yesterday. Today we clamped the front corners in place then tack welded them

Today we started modifying the front crossmember. First we made a 1/4 X 2 plate with two nuts welded to one side. Welded it to the mounting point for the frame. Then we started cutting the 2X4 frame section

Great build you have going on. Its probably to early to tell but how do you like the versa cut 60? I have been looking at it for awhile. It had very good reviews.

Thanks chizzler So far I like the versa cut 60 it cut 1/2 inch like butter. It does need a good ground to work properly Maybe they all do

Thanks pimpston I'm glad you're enjoying my efforts. I don't know about autocross but I do sometimes think highway speed limit signs are just suggestions

Todays work. First we made an angle bracket to bolt to the crossmember. Bolted everything together and tacked it to the 2X4 tubing. The next step was to start building the transition between the2X6 and 2X4 sections

Started working on the front frame rail for the drivers side. In the first picture notice the angle between the horizontal and vertical where the frame rail sits. In the second picture we cut a 3/8 strip out of the bottom of the frame rail and two cuts on the side. Then used clamps to bend side. The third picture is the side tacked

Today we finished making the drivers side front frame rail. Cut two crush sleeves and welded them in. Last two pictures are with the front frame rails tacked in place.

i see why you called it twisted, with all those "twists" and turns and the frame rails. like i said if you need a shop hand/whipping boy im your guy!!! what thickness on the frame rails are you using!!!

Picture one is some of the tig welding on front frame. The last two pictures show the rear inside corner tacked in and some plasma cutting on the rear corvette section

Pimpston you will see the reason for the frame design when we get to the body modifications. You're not far away, come and have a look. The 2X8 tubes are 1/8 wall, the 2X4 tubes are 3/16 and the curves are 3/16

Friday's work was just welding and grinding on the front of the frame. Here's three pictures of the finished welding

First two pictures we put the front suspension back together
Next, after some careful measuring we removed the rest of the corvette frame and left the rear suspension on the table.
The last shot is the first two pieces of the rear frame section
