Painting my ‘70 C10 stepside. New tailgate. Priming done. Cut n buff going well on fenders. Seems to me lettering on tailgate would be too hard to wet sand. Am I right or is there some secret sauce in doing it?

Honestly, that is REALLY tough. This is how I do something like that, cut and recoat the clear with a nice properly atomized coat of clear so that it's as smooth as you can get it. This doesn't mean "wet" to make it "Flow" (I HATE that term) no, it means to properly set up the gun so that it atomizes it to a smooth finish.
