I am going to try my best to get back on this thing this fall. There's so many little things that just need to be done that won't even cost much money. For right now, I'd just like to get it back on the road and put a coat of flat black on it, and drive it!

Re: 67 C-30 Dually pickup build.

I've just about made my mind up to sell it, as bad I hate to. It just seems like it has got shuffled to the backburner and I don't know if I'm going to get back on it. I may sell it and the ramp truck after the first of the year.

Re: 67 C-30 Dually pickup build.

Just keep it and work on it when you have time. When you get to drive it you will not want to sell it. Mine sat for 5 years in the weather not covered up in pieces after I gave up on it. Then my buddy wanted my Harley I told him to get all the pieces I needed for my truck that I wanted. This lit the spark and been working on it since not all the time but steady. I'm just waiting when I hit the key for the first time and out comes all the black and white smoke in the air and the smell of diesel.

I may end up keeping it, but I hate seeing it sit there. I am knee deep in working on my '67 GTO and the '68 C-10 I'm driving now. I work a full time job, I have side business, and 3 kids (that all played ball this year), so time is hard to come by these days! -lol

I know what you mean about time. In the end its worth it just keep it dry and work on it when you can. There is nothing I regret more then the vehicles I sold.

For what it's worth this build inspired me to start my build so I hope you keep it and like others have said just work on it when you can. Thank you for posting everything you have so far and I hope you continue to post even more! Just my two cents..

Man oh man do I know what you mean about time being in short supply. I started a 63 GMC short/fleet build and stopped when my 1 ton dually project came along. I keep plugging away on the dually to get it to a running/driving point when I really want to be working on the 63.
Oh yeah 67 Chevelle and Nova in the garage too.
Bring us up to speed. Any progress. I have gained an appreciation for these duallys.
Here is where my 68 is currently at. Hoping to either motivate you or make you want to show me "what a dually is supposed to look like". Either way, somebodies got to show these old dudes some love.

Just finished reading this.
What happened to the truck?
Sell it? Or you going to get back to it some day?

This truck is gonna be one of my favorites on this site. Every step you took working on this truck I liked. It's gonna be sweet. I'm gonna stay tuned for the rest of the ride. Keep up the good work man!

Re: 67 C-30 Dually pickup build.

I had been told those old diesels were not worth building. Your thread makes me think differently. I like the "spray it all" approach on your engine. I have seen many generators done that same way. I have more projects than time too. Sometimes what helps me is just to wash the one that's not getting worked on. Then I see a little thing I can do. And then it somehow gets back into the rotation. Good luck on all your stuff.

I have been off the board awhile and I have missed talking with you guys, so I decided I might was well have a good update on my return. The diesel runs great (Big Thanks to JKade) and sounds awesome. The custom 4" discharge housing really makes it sound mean! The video doesn't do the turbo justice, it really whistles! I couldn't run it long because I don't have the cooling system in place yet, but here's a little sampling of it. I can't wait to drive it!

Here's some pics of the engine with the pressure chamber and discharge housing installed. There's also one of the Z bar I had to modify and frame mount I had to make to engage the clutch. I used a spherical rod on the lower pushrod that goes to the fork, and its extra smooth. This would be a great upgrade for any manual shift truck. I'm going to add one to the rod coming from the clutch pedal as well.

I'm not quite sure what's up with my camera, so I'm sorry the pics are so fuzzy!
How did you run the oil cooler lines with the ball for the clutch z bar?

So...

After the fire, transitioning my pool business to my brother and starting up a plant - working there 3 years just be bought out by a company that quickly ran the place into the ground, and then starting up another plant, things have finally leveled out in my life for in years.*crosses fingers it stays that way a while!*

Anyway, after going back and forth for years on whether to sell the truck or, I just never did anything with it. Over the last few months, I've got back on it here and there and finally got the hydroboost working and put the front clip back on it. I went with a bigger aluminum radiator in to keep the diesel cool, and finally got it roadworthy. I've got to modify the inner fender for the big 4" exhaust, but it is was finally nice to drive the old beast around!

The Hydroboost power steering and brakes work great. Much better than the manual steering and brakes.
