Re: 57 Chevy Panel Van

Cool, I had a 57 Chevy panel with a stout 327 under the hood when I lived in Texas in the early 70's.

CR forum is the Canadian Rodder forum... Mostly cannucks with a sprinkling of Aussies and a few yanks. They aren't limited to any particular era - any classic car or truck is appreciated and everyone on there is pretty nice. A few of the guys here go there, too.

Re: 57 Chevy Panel Van

Hey Woodbutcher... Thanks for the reminder. I haven't been back there in quite a while. Went back and visited just in time to catch the get together in Sudbury at R & R Classics. Nice turn out.

Re: 57 Chevy Panel Van

Well my project is on hold again for a while. Damn, sometimes life gets in the way.
We're selling again. This time I'm excited. Cause if we can sell we have an accepted offer on a house in Callander Ont that has two 2 car garages

I was surpriced to see that the cargo area is made up of a big peice of plywood with those metal slats mounted on to of the plywood.

I was expecting to see a similar floor as the pick up truck box. I'm wondering if I can make a fleet side box floor fit ???
The reason for the plywoodfloor in the paneltruck was to prevent dust coming into the truck
The earlier ones had planks...

If I'm gonna buy them and have to pay for shipping to Canada... I want the 3 pc set

A couple of posts ago I promised a link to my newest project truck. 57 Mack B61

This is a real nice discovery. I was just googling 57 panel van and came across this. I own this truck now. It looks like you stopped at this point. I have owned over 50 classic vehicles and this is the first time I actually found some history on one.
It looks like it still has the original frame. I did see some pictures with a newer frame being prepared though. I am presently placing it on a 2002 Cadillac Escalade chassis.

Re: 57 Chevy Panel Van

Hey MostToys
Glad you were able to find my old thread here on the Panel Van.
I was sad to have to sell the old girl.. I had big plans for it.
Shapiro (the I sold it to had big plans for it too. He was gonna make it his Tow and Tool truck for his Drag Racing team. But I guess his priorities got redirected.

He offered to sell it back to me, but it still wasn't a good time for me yet. I'm still recovering from seller's remorse.

Hope your able to stick around here, maybe start a thread on your build and chassis swap. I saw your ads on kijiji. If you do facebook I'd like to ad you to see pics of your build

Re: 57 Chevy Panel Van

Yes he moved to Scottsdale and sold me the 57 panel and the 50 custom 4 door pick up. He just shipped me a hood from there for the panel and I just located pictures of that hood on the truck from several years ago. It's a small world. lol
