'71 AC controller woes

Howdy all,
It's "get the suburban ac fixed" season in Texas. I recently replaced the seized compressor and put a new dryer on. AC shop evacuated and she held vacuum. Now she's charged up and cooling; however, since I got it, the compressor will only cycle when the controller is set to defrost. Im having trouble finding diagrams that show how that controller even works. The system was converted before I bought it, and I'm not sure how that affects the situation. Just figured I'd see if anyone had any insight before I start tearing into the dash.

Thanks in advance!

On it. I'm currently in Wyoming in route to Texas. I'll be home tomorrow evening and snap some pics.

But, in the spirit of being clear, it has been converted to r134a. That type of system should cycle, right?

Re: '71 AC controller woes

Not necessarily.

It depends on what type of other changes might have been done.
