Wiring in CS-style alt

OK, yes, I do know how to use the search here. But holey rusted metal, Batman- it gets confusing..... fast.

I've dropped a 350 out of a '93 Suburban into my '72 Cheyenne, & have kept the serpentine set-up. The Cheyenne had a 350. Converted the '93 to carb.

So I want to wire in the '93s CS-style alternator to the Cheyenne, which was still a factory-style externally regulated alt. Bought a wiring jumper for the SI to CS swap & cut off the SI connector. I now have a CS-style connector with a red wire in position S, and a yellow wire (with a resistor) in the L position.

Where the frack do they go?? lol

Thank you very much. I didn't come across that particular one. I went thru 8 or 10 threads that came up in my search queries, & got so many different directions going in my head that my eyes glazed over.

Are you planning on using the stock ammeter in the gauge panel? If so you need to adhere to the same basic wiring for it that is in the OEM harness. I have very detailed information on that as well.

Yellow wire on my harness pictured above to an extended brown wire that was disconnected at the old regulator. Then red wire on my harness pictured above gets tied back in to the hot wire going to the alt, preferably "downstream" on the hot wire, & not just hooked right back in at the back of the alternator, correct?

And the remaining wires at the old regulator can be removed/capped?

yes you have it right and to illustrate that and the ammeter wiring, check out this thread I just did in the electrical forum.

The last diagram I posted was for the SI conversion so Here is the correct one for the CS conversion (yours), with the included wiring for the Ammeter.

You may want to consider upgrading to a CS144 alternator instead of the CS130. The CS130 doesn't make a good paperweight IMHO. The die at very inopportune times. Electrical connection is the same.
