Cliff Ruggles wrote the book on these. Literally. There may be better but it was always my small-B bible for these carbs, and is likely still the one to get.

Thank you davepl. I pulled the accelerator pump and found the diaphragm wasn't attached to the plunger. It was also very soft. I expected this carb to be better than this considering I just purchased the carb rebuilt from autoline. I learned a very valuable lesson. Things can and will go wrong with rebuilt stuff. Sorry to offend anybody. I wanted to make sure this was the problem before I tore it apart. After spending the money for parts I installed the pump and the truck is running great.

I also ordered Cliff's book for the quadrajet carbs.

I'm just glad I could help. Sadly unless it's coming off the Rochester assembly line or from a reputable shop, the out-of-the-box-experience (OOBE) is often grim on rebuilt parts!
