Is there a how to out there for putting a new set of torsion bar keys in an 05? Looking to level out my ride and would like some pointers.

I don't know how far you want to raise the front but if you only need an inch or two you can crank the bolts that much without buying the keys. First I spray lube them then jack the front up till the tires are off the ground then ratchet the torsion bar bolts an even number of turns on each side then set it down and measure it. I raised my old 97 Burb 2 inches this way. It still rode good and alignment was good.

How many inches of front lift Are needed to level the truck? Where do you measure?

How much depends on the individual truck. I would measure from the rocker panel pinch weld to the ground at the front and rear. That'll give you a good idea of how much difference there is.

I always measure from the center of the wheel well's arch.

Using the center of the fenderwells is good for measuring the amount of lift or drop but is missleading when finding the level because the tops of the front and rear fenderwells are not level when the truck is. One could place a carpenters level on the top of the bed rail to check for level also.

If that works for raising the front end (keys)....... how much can you LOWER the front end

If you are starting from a stock level setting you can lower the front end only an inch or two by loosening the torsion bar bolts before the lower control arms are sitting hard against the bumpstops. At this point it don't ride well at all as there is no travel left.
You have the option of installing dropped spindles for 2" or cutting your bumpstops down some.
If you choose backing off on the torsion bars just count the number of turns each side in case you decide to go back up with it.
I raised one side until the tire just cleared the ground to unload the bar and lubed the bolts. They turned easy from there.
I said I would not try lowering mine again but I think about it alot. Sure want it down some. I may wait until I go down a size or two on the tires.

I found a previous thread on lowering a tahoe 4wd, same applies to burbs.

Past: '05 Sierra 4x4 - Had 270,000 KM and running well when it was written-off by a stop sign runner. '94 F-150 from the "F word" company. I'll admit it...good truck. Sold what was left of it for $800 to a guy who came to pick it up at 11:00 PM with cash in hand. Hmm. '79 Sierra Grande (Black) organ donor - perfect rebuildable 4-bolt 350 and a good TH350. '76 Sierra Grande (Orange) - hate isn't too strong a word. Kid who bought it turned it into a hot rod. '68 C-10 R.I.P. - Dad's old truck...too far gone to resurrect. '59 C-50 - with hoist. Truck is gone, wife isn't. Nuff said.
