Travis, When and where did you get the '67 wood wheel? I can't believe I missed that before. "Mater" is looking not so "Materish" anymore. Looking awesome!

Re: Project "Mater" build thread

Thanks guys!!! That's means so much to me! I haven't been on here much lately, but I do have a couple more updates to post. Hutch, I think it's cool that you're going with this color! Thanks for the kind words, and I'll be watching for pics! 67 sub, I'm going to continue using the tail lights that came with the truck. I'll get some pics of them, but they look to be off an International something or another.. Steve, my brother bought a parts truck last summer that had that wheel in it. It's actually not wood, dang it.. But with some restoration and a new button, it should look pretty cool in there!

Re: Project "Mater" build thread

Brad, you said hopefully the truck would be done btt you saw me next..

I just got back from a drive in the truck over the mountains and through the snow to Grandma's house. The truck has slush on it, but is thawing out nicely. Feels good to drive it!!! I still have some work to go, but it's getting there.

Re: Project "Mater" build thread

I am soooo sorry I haven't been around here lately..!

Nonhog, um, for now I'm going to use my ole peep mirrors, but I will let you know if I decide otherwise... Thanks for the offer! Don't think I don't appreciate it!

Well, I've been driving the heck out of the truck since I've been on here last. I have some cosmetic stuff to take care of yet, not to mention a lot of other things I'd like to do. Lower it some more, rebuild front end, although it's not really that bad..

Well, here's what it currently looks like. I've got a couple things that I bought at the swap meet that I'd like your opinions on, but I'll post those on the truck forum.

Re: Project "Mater" build thread

I like the seatbelt latch idea for the gate, simple, and functional.

Did you do the rear speaker behind the seat setup yourelf? Very clean, I likes.

Re: Project "Mater" build thread

Just found this build. Wow, great job !! That color is nice, reminds me of Dad's K-5 Blazer (79).

My son and I have a '67 Long-Step in the garage waiting for me to start, he wants to do a 4x4 conversion on it...I don't blame him, the long-step trucks look much better up off the ground. We've settled on the Original Hugger Orange with a Pearl White roof in place of the Original Plain white.

Since he was about 11 when we got the truck, his truck is know as "Mister Mater".

Pretty inspiring, now that spring has sprung in South Dakota, we'd better get going...

Re: Project "Mater" build thread

Wow, that's a great project Barth! I'll be watching for your build thread!

estig, I did do that setup behind the seat. I should have taken more pics. It turned out A LOT better than I thought it would!

Thanks all for the compliments!! I still want to drop it another couple inches and have a few more small things to do yet. Oh, and to hold the tailgate down, I made straps that plug into the male and female ends.

Re: Project "Mater" build thread

Hey everyone, meet Kelly! (aka butternut1972) We bought our house from him and he's the one who custom built it. Hence the garage reference..

Tyler, cool! What do you have? I'll have to watch for ya, and feel free to stop by sometime!

NONHOG, the tank is from a Burb I believe. Brad picked it up from Livrat when he was up there one time and it turned out to be a good tank. Tanks.. I mean, thanks again Brad!!! So you still have the mirrors?? Hmm, tempting!

Here's the latest. I'm pretty much finished for now other than some more cutting and buffing and some interior stuff. Eventually I'd like to drop it some more..

Re: Project "Mater" build thread

I have been fortunate enough to see this build from start to finish in person since Blue72 is my Bro. He put so much time and work into this truck, but it has all paid off in the end. He did a REALLY good job. I just wish I could get more motivated to get going on my project.

Great Job Travis!!!
