Re: 1986 k10 question.

if it was up to me if it runs good and can drive it every day do the lift and tires. that the most expencive part cause you have to do them at same time.

Re: 1986 k10 question.

I agree with getting it running and then go for the lift. Are you upgrading axles as well?

Re: 1986 k10 question.

well as of right now i have the stock 10 bolt axles with 3:08 gears,i didnt plan on switching axles because i do not want to go bigger then a 35" tall tire but i did think about eventually doing gears.

Re: 1986 k10 question.

Where is Holbrook?? If junkyards where you are like where I am, you won't have a problem finding axles. I would start looking for some, in less you got a healthy motor, the truck isn't gonna like 35s with 3.08 gears. For 35s I'd go with 4.10s.

Also go with a 6" lift for 35s. I have that on my truck, did a little mild wheelin' yesterday and rubbed barely even flexed.

Re: 1986 k10 question.

Depending on where he is and where I am at with my project in the spring I may have a set of 14 bolt axels out of one of my truks by then. Good luck with the build, keep us posted.

Re: 1986 k10 question.

Like I said look me up in the spring, I should have the axels out of one of my trucks by then. The rear is a 14 bolt 4:10 both are 3/4 ton trucks.

I would be willing to meet you somewhere off the thruway or wearever works.

Re: 1986 k10 question.

Make sure your balljoints, tie rod ends and all other suspension and steering components are in good shape before lifting it and installing bigger tires.
