Re: 1971 Cheyenne K10 Build Thread-Project Idaho

Hello from Idaho Falls.
We need to plan some Idaho member get togethers.
Your truck looks awesome! I’m about a year into working the bugs out of my 69 GMC k10.
I’m just got my Skip White dizzy yesterday. Have you heard bad things about the drive gear? I was gonna stab it in today, but I’ll wait if there’s gonna be a problem with it.
I’m serious about getting together though, it would be great to see everyone’s projects and to pull from all that knowledge and experience.

Hey there! A members meet would be fun! As far as the distributor gear goes, no I haven't heard anything bad about them. It's just important to match your gear material to your cam to avoid chewing one or both of them up. I'm definitely no expert on this hence my question about it.

Re: 1971 Cheyenne K10 Build Thread-Project Idaho

Heres a few images for Vettevet. Currently helping me work through my low voltage handicap. One is a picture of the old regulator plug now plugged into that wire crossover thing Im suspecting, another of the 4 way solder junction(from when I had it out of the loom during the fire repair) and one of the back of the alternator's existing wire with SI conversion plug. Threw in one of the junction bolt with fusible link I installed after fire. Lastly one of the firewall panel. Sorry for the picture quality Hopefully they all turn up the same direction. More pictures to come this weekend of the engine swap progress for anyone whos subd and waiting to see.

Re: 1971 Cheyenne K10 Build Thread-Project Idaho

A little more progress last night. Got the old engine almost ready to pull. Bellhousing bolts and engine mounts are all that's left. Headed over to do that today. Then I'll spend some time cleaning and painting in the engine bay along with whatever wiring I can get done i.e. fuel pump, alternator conversion before dropping the new engine in.
