Question 1980 front marker lights blink?

Fixing some of the rodent-ravaged wiring in the C30 and am wondering if the fender-mounted marker lights are supposed to blink in unison with the lights mounted in the grille. The wiring diagram I pulled off Autozone's site doesn't show that the wires that go to the turn signal switch connect to the markers, but the somewhat intact part of the passenger's harness has what I think is a factory splice that puts the marker on the same circuit as the flasher.

The wiring in this truck has been "fixed" at various times before I got it, so I'm suspicious of everything I see. Still, it's odd to me to have the side markers flash on a truck this old.

IIRC - the ones on my 75 C10 do blink but opposite the fronts. Front lit-side dark, front dark-side lit. Don't think the rear side markers blink at all.

Thanks guys. That confirms what I'm seeing on the passenger's side. The Autozone diagram is wrong.

This has always been a mystery to me because on some trucks I see them flash and others not.
Sounds funny I know but I don't remember if the ones on my 76 do or don't.

Re: 1980 front marker lights blink?

Doesn't seem like they should flash, since I thought these were just running lights. And the truck's a Custom Deluxe, so I guess whether or not they flash isn't dependent on the trim level. But upon cleaning up what remained of the wiring at the sockets, it looks like I've got it wired properly now, and sure enough, the markers are constantly lit when the parking lights are turned on and flash alternately to the turn signal lights when they're engaged. This seems consistent with what I've been able to piece together on Google and to what Mongo and Dead Parrot said.

It's funny...everytime I attempt to clean up wiring on this thing, I end up pulling off several inches of extra wire and a handful of butt connectors. I'm thinking the extra wiring was left in place in anticipation of something constantly eating what was there

'81 C10 Custom Deluxe, the side markers flash alternating with the signal in the bumper.

When I wired it according to the Autozone diagram, this is how mine behaved. Maybe it has to do with whether it's a dual or quad headlight setup? Mine has the dual round lights.
