1968 C10 Custom Shortbed Stepside

I met this guy wanting to sell his truck but is unsure what price to let it go at. His Grandfather ordered this truck new and he bought the truck off of him a few decades ago. The truck was repainted 30+ years ago. At that time they replaced the rear fenders and steps with GM replacements and repaired the rocker panels and cab corners.

57,335 original miles
V8 307
Automatic powerglide trans
Tinted windows
Posi
Power steering
Custom Trim

The truck looks great from a short distance. Motor sounds good and runs smooth at ideal. The interior is in really nice shape, the armrest and steering wheel have cracks. He has really nice trailing arms to replace the ones on the truck. The frame has slight surface rust only.

The truck will need TLC in a few areas. The front hood lip has rust bubbles, the front cups on both fenders are gone. The bed has one or two small holes rusted through where the fenders bolt. The bottom of the doors need some work but are salvageable. The cab will requires all 4 cab mounts and rockers. The bed floor is plywood.

The motor, inner fenders, and core support have been rattle can painted recently.

For a Pennsylvania truck this is a very nice original truck.

Ask any questions and please feel free to voice your opinion. Thanks, Nate

PA is so hard on trucks. The rust really hurts of what the truck value. If you want the truck because you want it it is worth what it would be for you but if you are trying to flip it or buy it for a investment I would pass unless it is dirt cheap as in they are almost giving it away.

Thanks Guys

I was thinking maybe this truck was a little more unique than most because it's a stepside with the options that it has.

Re: 1968 C10 Custom Shortbed Stepside

I'd pay $2,500 to have it for a fun occasional driver as is,or personalize but not restore. As soon as you go to restore it will require all the things a beat to heck truck would. I've always said,it doesn't matter what you pay for a truck to restore. Just add the purchase price on top of the restoration cost. Someone could give you a truck and it still won't be cheap. You have to have something before you can restore it. But,to me,to pay $2,500 (or less) for a truck like that to put what suspension you like,wheels/tires,and exhaust to cruise up with trucks that have $25k into them is awesome. That's just my style anymore. I just don't give a hoot and kinda like it to show.

I can see that truck with the cap gone, tonneau cover, painted (silver) sport bumper/grille/fr bumper, dual pipes, and a set of chrome smoothies (they're cheap).

Re: 1968 C10 Custom Shortbed Stepside

I'd start at 2 and go to 2500. I am not much of a 67-8 style truck, but that is sharp looking, even with what it needs.

Re: 1968 C10 Custom Shortbed Stepside

Thanks Guys, I hope this will help the owner make a decision. He really doesn't have to sell and he has history with the truck that's probably hard to put a price on

Re: 1968 C10 Custom Shortbed Stepside

I don't think with all that needs done to the cab that its worth more than $2K.

Depends on what YOU want to do with it.
