Tire size for H2 rims on stock height c20

Anyone run H2 rims on their 2 wheel drive truck? What tire size are you using?
I have a '67 c20 Fleetside that is stock height. I have a set of the H2's and I have read that the rims will work, but I need a useful recommendation on tire size.
I have done searches on this forum and Google 'til I'm blue-in-the-face but have not found anything definitive. I have trial fitted the H2 rims on the truck and have measured and plotted and figured, but cannot come up with an answer on tire size that would make me comfortable to pull the trigger on buying tires. If I have to use spacers.. so be it.

At present, I am feeling very stymied in my efforts.

Again, anybody run H2s on their stock height, 2 wheel drive C20 Fleetside?
If so, what tires are you using?

Which H2 rim? 17" or 20"

Stock hummer wheels won't fit with out spacers in back, and probably up front, with the hub hole on the rims machined out.

Tri-Pro
We're talking about 17"
The rims measure 17x8-1/2 with approx. 5-9/16backspace, the total rim width is 10" measuring from outside of flange to outside of flange.
I have 1-1/2" clearance between edge of rim to edge of of bed/tub.
This is a Fleetside, by the way.

Texanidiot
I can see the possibility of needing spacers for tire clearance if the tire section width turns out to be much more then 10".
The hub holes are actually oversize for the hub - they won't need to be machined out

Strange, the H2 must have a larger hub hole then the other GM wheels. Any other GM truck wheel won't fit with out work. Hummer must use some different dimensions..

No, the 8 lug wheels all have the same size hole. The problem you are thinking of is with new 6 lug wheels.

265/70R17 is about a 31 inch tire and should fit I would think.

Yeah I'm currently running 8.00x17.5 bias plys 30.8" tall - don't want anything shorter. A 31" tire would be good. Gonna need spacers to run that 265 section width.

I don't think you would need any spacers.

After looking at some tire specs for that size, looks like I may have 1/2" inboard clearance on the rear if I'm lucky.
I'm open to all suggestions.

Take a good guess and see if you can get a local tire shop to mount some different sizes of used throw away tires. Take them home, put them on the truck, measure for clearance.
