Oil Pressure indication problems

This weekend my 05 GMC with 5.3 oil pressure suddenly pegged out at 80 psi. After a little research on the net I found that its a common problem on the 5.3 trucks. Nearly always replacing the pressure sensor seems to cure the problem. I picked up a new BWD S4202 sensor and replaced it this evening. Now when ever the ignition is on I have oil pressure bouncing between 15-20 PSI engine off or running doesn't matter. Just to double check I hooked the old sensor back up and it immediately pegged out at 80 PSI again. What are the odds I got a bad sensor? That sucker wasn't comfortable to change. lol. I guess tomorrow I get out the multi meter and see if I can figure out whats going on.

I just replaced mine yesterday on my '05 GMC with the 4.8 I used a dura last switch from autozone. Mine was at 0 then went to 80 with ignition only and stayed at 80 if I started the truck. Once I put the new switch in its back to normal. Just over 40. No bouncing for me.

Re: Oil Pressure indication problems

Turned out that I got a bad sensor. Replaced it again and everything back to normal.
