tire size

Hey guys!
i just bought a new set of wheels for my truck.. got a set of 15x7 slot mags (without the tires in the pic).
id like to see what size tires y'all got on your truck. my current tires are two different brands of 31x10.5 R15 on chevy ralley wheels. im looking to get a new set of white letter tires like the coopers or bf goodrich for my slot mags.

through a little bit of googling, ive found that 225 60 r15 may be what im looking for... not too tall. not too skinny.

id love to see some pics of this size tire on 15x7 wheels on 55-59 trucks

of course feel free to post pics and whatever size tires you got!

Re: tire size

As high as that truck sits I'd go with a taller tire than a 225 60.

This showing a 225-60x15 Radial TA at 25.6 inches tall.

On that site you can plug in tire sizes and with a couple of clicks you can see the specs of the tires you are interested in. It will let you know what you want when you go down to the local tire store. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/sizes/...sp?diameter=15

Re: tire size

My truck isn't as high anymore . I lowered the front by 2 1/2 inches and took the blocks out of the back.. The truck is sitting at about stock height for a 2wd. This pick is before taking the blocks out of the back. These tires are 31 x 10.5

Re: tire size

now with the new ride height, what size tires would look good on 15x7 slots? my current tires on the ralley wheels are pretty big 31x10.5 15
does that roughly translate to 265 70 r15? im not sure if i could even put these tire on 15x7 wheels? i want a tire thats maybe not quite as tall, but as wide as i can go on the 15x7. i like the tire to fill the wheel well

According to this site, a 265/75-15 is 30.65" tall

A google search returned this site - http://tire-size-conversion.com/tire-size-chart/

According to that site the 265 70 R15 translates to 29.6 inches tall x 10.4 inches wide. If you want to go a little shorter and wider the 255 65 R15 is 28.1 inches tall x 10 inches wide.

Ok so 225 60 would probably look too small. Is 10" about as wide as you can go on 7" wheels?

Re: tire size

I'd say 10 inches is too wide for a 7 inch rim. In one of the links I posted earlier it shows what size rim works best with different tire sizes.

I think I'd split the difference on tire diameter and go with something between 27 and 28 inches tall and a 70 or 75 width. That will still give you some tread width but work on the rims better and not be too short or too tall.

Re: tire size

I know it's kinda splitting hairs with the different tire sizes . If I saw tires mounted in 15x7 wheels, I'd figure out which one I like most. Not too tall , and also not too skinny

Re: tire size

A 235 section is about perfect for a 7" rim, plus it is a common enough size that there will be lots of choices. If you are at about stock height however, I would consider a 235/75 - 15 which would fill the wheelwell height-wise better.

I use a 235/70 - 15 rears on a lowered truck.

Re: tire size

I don't think bf Goodrich radial ta is available in 235 75. I only see 235 60 and 235 70 listed on the website

I like the cooper cobra tires too. Same thing , 235 70.

Re: tire size

In late but here is a spreadsheet I put together for 15" wheels to get width and diameter for different size and aspect within the range I was considering. I have the same for 13-20" wheels. pm me with an email if anyone would like the original excell spreadsheets to play with.

Re: tire size

on 15x7 wheels:

bf goodrich radial T/A and cooper cobra radial G/T

size
235 60r15
235 70r15
245 60r15

thoughts on these sizes for my near stock height truck and BFG vs Cooper?
the BFG 235 70r15 happens to be only $102.50 each at mavis right now after rebate.
