W/S Wiper Marks ?

Has anyone had any luck in removing what I would call "wiper marks" from a windshield? NOT scratches, more like a haze or cloudiness in shape of the wiper arc. Windshield is in great shape other that that and am hoping there is some way it can be saved. Not on my truck, on my current project, a '71 Chevelle with the antenna inside the glass and is original to the car. Would like to keep it if at all possible.

Re: W/S Wiper Marks ?

Try some Bon Ami with a scrunge kitchen pad, not a pad that will scratch glass, good for removing water spots ect. If it makes ya feel better tho try it on another poece of glass first. I saw this on Two Guys Garage a long time ago.

Believe it or not, I have heard that toothpaste works great for removing marks in glass. I cannot say with 100% certainty as I have never tried it.

Good point on using another piece of glass to test on first.

Re: W/S Wiper Marks ?

Thanks for the replies, I had heard that about toothpaste but never have known anyone to actually try it. Would like to try it on another piece of glass before I attempt the windshield, just in case.

Re: W/S Wiper Marks ?

I have used Flitz polish on plastic with great results so it may also be safe on glass??

I've used brasso to remove some glass scratches.
sure worked well on the hazy plastic headlights!

0000 steel wool worked on mine - just did it today. I had some paint overspray to remove, and the wiper marks are gone now too.

Re: W/S Wiper Marks ?

Using the 0000 steel wool, what method did you use? Slow circular rubbing, straight back and forth? I have used 0000 steel wool on some stainless and works well removing tarnish stains. Never have used it on glass. Am parting a '70 3/4 ton and will have to give it a try on that windshield first. It is cracked so it makes a good test case

Re: W/S Wiper Marks ?

I went straight back and forth on mine. Followed with a good glass cleaner and it looked much better than before.
