1963 Chevrolet C30 wheel selection

I'm a new owner of a 1963 Chevrolet C30. I've always wanted one now I have one!

I imagine this topic has been covered a million times... but I can't find it. Well at least I can't find an exact answer. I am wanting to move away from the bias ply tires and as you know I need different wheels. Which wheels from what years fit on these trucks? I've been looking on craigslist and there are alot of 8 lug wheels there but I'm not sure which ones would work.

Any GM or Dodge 8 lug wheel that is 8 x 6.5" Ford wheels will fit also except for the Super Duty wheels starting in about '99.....I think that's when they went Metric

I'm pretty sure Ford and Dodge use larger diameter hubs, and since our trucks are hubcentric the Ford/Dodge wheels won't work. I ran into that when I was looking for wheels for my '88 dually. Shouldn't later 70's/80's 16" dually wheels fit?

I ended up finding P30 bread van 19.5's for my '88.

So far I've located 6 rims from a mid 70s 1 ton. I'm hoping they will work. So being hubcenitric means the center hole fits the hub almost exactly?

Yes, the center of the wheel fits tight on the hub to center the wheel, and the weight of the truck rides on the hub instead of on the lugs/studs.

Pre '71 19.5" wheels ( hard to find and pricey ) with 8R-19.5 tubeless tires would be my first choice. Pre '71 dually wheels have smaller lug holes, post '71 disc brake dually wheels have larger lug holes.

So if the lug holes are larger is it easy enough to just change stud size or is it more complicated than that? Your recommendation on 19.5 wheels with 8R-19.5 tires.. is it based on ride comfort or ? I've found some 8x6.50-16 rims for what seems like a decent price.
