Re: Project Physcobilly <shortbed build>

UPDATE Got the drop springs on and got rid of the broken and melted stock springs . I don't think the drop springs lowered me any but it sure is a much smoother ride! While I had the upperball joint off I replaced both sides and installed new bolts to hold my sway bar down.

Well the traction bars are coming off I hit another pot hole and the other traction bar is bent now. How bad is it to put drop spindles on. BGRAFX did you get your bumper off?

Re: Project Physcobilly <shortbed build>

Man my burb has been down for a week. It starts and runs, then dies. I was stranded in the rain storm the other day. No I haven't messed with the bumpers either in between rain showers trying to get it running is my main focus.
Glad to hear you making good progress. Let's see some pix

Who did you have help you lower it?

Re: Project Physcobilly <shortbed build>

Well the drop spindle install when exelent we ran into no snags at all and were able to get it all torn down and reassembled in alittle over two hours with three and a half of us working on it. It dropped it so olow that with my van rallyes the header flanges scrapped the ground when I hit any uneven or rough road ( which by the way I was told by friends behind me looked sick on the highway with sparks flying )

Saturdays song Which is amazing if you have subs!
Sunday I slapped on my set of pontiac rallye two wheels so I don't tear up my good front tires while waiting to get it into the alignment shop. And also not to further damage my questionable quality and condition headers.

Couldn't have done it with out my friends even if they are more likely to be tuning there hondas than working on a chevy .

Sundays victory end of the weekend song
Also i included a picture of the last years auto tech class at school Mr. Proct our teacher was the best one I have ever had.

Re: Project Physcobilly <shortbed build>

Theme song of the swap was definately BAMF-whatever you like . its a T.I. Ska remix. But otherwise lots of super honky tonk country, Tech n9ne (gotta rep the KC roots) and shine down.

Re: Project Physcobilly <shortbed build>

You may notice that my buddy Taylors dog "cooper" knows his place in the dog house and in the bed of the truck lol

Also I uploaded a picture of the hole that is on the under side of the hood for a underhood light mabey? I have been told only the balls to the wall optioned trucks had this ? Included the pic of the garage party that went down after the majority of the work was finnished on the swap.

*All in all the swap cost me less than $200 just took my time to find nice OEM parts at U pick it and CL. Super easy to do too!

** Still need to align hood its way over to one side. and need a passenger side hood hinge.

***Still would like to find a 51-53 ford F1 big teeth grill and mod it to fit my truck.

****Also used the 80's inner fenders .battery box (had to make special brace) and bumper which people kinda poo poo'ed being able to use them.

***** Found out a hose clamp was stuck back behind my header box and thats why I didn't have heat last winter. I really thought this was the reason until this morning I flipped the heater on and realized mabey mine just is old worn out and really sucks. This seems plausable eh?

Re: Project Physcobilly <shortbed build>

It aint bad but IMO just looks better with the matching bumper. I see the mismatched stuff alot, more 81-87 front ends or 88-91's with 73-80 front bumpers then I do 81-87 bumpers on 73-80's but I've seen a few same as yours.
