Need to pull the drivers side front fender and inner on my 1948 3100 with 5.3/4L60E conversion. Do I need to pull the grille to do this?
I know it would be easier to pull the complete front end as one unit,but, I am working by myself and can’t do that without help.

It can be done that way. You have to take the panel that holds the hood latch off to reach the two screws that hold the grill bar to the fender. Then the bolts that hold the inner fender to the core support and the bolts that hold the grill to the inner fender and the bolts that hold the inner fender to the splash apron. And then the bolts that hold the fender and inner fender to the cowl.

it isnt hard to pull a front end by yourself, I have done it on every truck. it doesnt weigh as much as you think and if you have a set of car dollies, you can roll it around pretty easy. if you dont have car dollies cardboard freight (harbor freight) sells mover dollies for under 10 bucks each on sale. take the bumper off first, and the front wheels.

leaving it all together means it will line back up right.

just a counterpoint. you can pull it all apart but lining it back up is goiong to be a fiddly chore.

I'm with Russ...pull the whole front clip as 1 pc...

if you have an engine hoist, use some tow straps from the center hook to all 4 corners of the front clip. makes it real easy to pull off complete by your self.

Yep that makes it real simple to do by your self and probably saves several hours. It's best to take the radiator out or put a cut fit sheet of 1/4 inch something on the back side (plywood, masonite or paneling) to protect the radiator if you don't.

There is no wrong way but what I described in post 2 is a lot more complicated and time consuming but you don't have to drain the cooling system.

Either way you have to remove the front bumper and the the front tire.
