No, you cant cut the back springs, cause they have a pigtail on both ends.........also, avoid the temptation to heat them to drop(this is a serious no no!). On the front springs, I would cut 1 full ring, & the amount of drop will depend on what spring you have to start with. In my case, i started with the lightest NEW spring that i could get,cut 1 FULL ring off the bottom & have a 3" drop(after the springs settled in). If you are cutting used springs, you may not see this much drop, but the stockers will likely have 1/2-3/4" sag from all the yrs of use. To cut them, I tossed them upside down in a 5 gal bucket of water, lit the "smoke wrench" & cut the exposed end. done this way, the only part that could get "soft" was the first 1/2" of the end. Shorter springs also require shorter shocks,or shock relocators to run the stock lenght shock. I built the shock brackets for my longhorn, but you can pick up a set through Turner Enterprises for about $45. Good luck.....crazy AL
